Lars and the Real Girl

I'm categorizing this as a fairy tale/comedy, cause it really kind of was. Obviously not Peter Pan fairy tale-like, but there was a little bit of that element to it. Or at least I thought so. It was a little weird to get past the fact that there's a sex doll as one of the main characters (or at least the main topic). But once I got past that, this movie had some sweet moments.

I don't know, I'm not really sure why everyone is all crazy about this movie. It seemed far too jumbled up. For example, the townspeople not jiving with Bianca and going along with it. Then suddenly they were all okay with her and even taking her out to do stuff without Lars around. I don't know if it was some kind of message I missed, like they were trying to get her away from Lars to help him snap out of it, or if it was genuine. But even if it was genuine, with the flow of the movie, it just really didn't flow well.

I did love the woman who played the doctor. I don't know where I recognize her from, but she's been in a couple of movies I've seen and I like her. I also liked the actress that played Margo. She was really cute! The scene in the beginning of the movie where one of his fellow churchgoers gives him a flower to give to a girl and then Margo says hi and he throws it? I was actually really laughing hard at that.

This was probably the first movie on the list where I was actually pretty disappointed overall and kept watching the clock to see when it would be over. Cause I can't stop the movie, that doesn't work with my rules. I gotta watch the whole thing. Like with August Rush, the great music in it made up for the lackluster story line. There just wasn't enough in this to hold it together.

The Break-Up

The Break-Up was pretty funny. It's really another movie that I wouldn't search out again, but I would watch it if I happened to catch it on TV.

I did enjoy the fact that this wasn't another romantic comedy where everything worked out in the end. And there were lots of moments where it was very drama filled and I liked that too. I know it didn't do too well in reviews and stuff, but I don't think it was that bad. The only character I really didn't like and I think it was VERY smart to cut a lot of his scenes was Brooke's brother. He was just such a dumb character. I even enjoyed Christopher; it seemed like the writers and the actor that played that role wanted it to be the big funny ridiculous thing. But I liked him so much more.

I loved the scene in the beginning where Gary and his friend were sitting at the Cubs game and his friend was bitching about the guy sitting next to him and how he was sitting. It just made me laugh because I totally related it to sitting at Preds games. That was great.

I think this movie will make any couple watch it and say, Oh yeah, we've had that fight before. I know I definitely felt like that. But, you know, we've never gotten to the point of breaking up, so that's good! But their fights were definitely realistic feeling. Anyway, I did enjoy this movie and I think Jennifer Aniston & Vince Vaughn played these characters really well. And I always love seeing Joey Lauren Adams. She's great and I love when she's in a movie I'm watching. I also like the extras on the DVD. The little tour of Chicago is fun to watch. I think I'm going to watch this movie with the commentary on.

I need to find movies that have really good commentaries. Those are always fun to watch. Anyway, off to watch another movie!

Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters

LOL! Wow. So this movie - it's not that I watched this movie in shock or awe. I guess I was dumbfounded. But I still laughed. I mean, come on, if you've seen the show on Adult Swim, you should know that it's pretty much going to be an extended episode where there's going to be more crude humor than they can put on a cable TV show. So if you watch it expecting that and knowing it'll be the show's humor x 10, you'll have nothing to be upset about. Well, that is, if you like the show. Which I do, or at least it makes me giggle enough to enjoy the movie.

The song they play in the beginning about what not to do during the movie? It should totally be played at the beginning of EVERY movie. Or at least until people get the message. Oh! & the opening segment where it said, Billions of Years Ago. Egypt, etc. (I don't want to give away the funny stuff) was hilarious!

All the favorite special characters were there, the famous Boston terrorists Ignignokt & Err and Oglethorpe (my favorite) and Emory. The scene in the hallway with Master Shake yelling at them to get a room was funny.

I think what I enjoyed about this movie was the little lines and moments here and there that made me giggle a lot. & that's what I did, I giggled a lot. Not a lot of laugh out loud worthy moments, but some smattering of laughs and giggles abounded. Meatwad with the teeth, Ignignokt & Err with their gun, the hallway scene I mentioned earlier, Meatwad getting laid, etc. & honestly, that's what makes the show so funny. It's not the overall storylines, it's the few episode characters that pop up and the one liner scenes that happen between Frylock, Meatwad and Master Shake. So the fact that they were able to transfer that into a movie (which is so much longer than their normal 15 minute shows) that pretty much followed the feel of the show? That's not bad at all.

I enjoyed the movie, but again, I enjoy the show. If you don't, you won't enjoy the movie at all. It really was just like an extended episode. Except of course for the fact that they took advantage of their R rating and got to go a little farther with the jokes. Oh and there's definitely no end to the movie. It literally just stops.
